Partial/Full Dentures for Significant Tooth Loss
Dentures are designed to address significant or total tooth loss (also known as edentulism) and rebuild your upper and/or lower dental ridge. Full dentures consist of an entire row of replacement teeth, while partial dentures are designed for patients who still retain some of their natural teeth. The durable, realistic pontics are situated on a comfortable plastic base that is designed specifically to fit on your dental ridge. In the case of partial dentures, the prosthesis may also be secured with discreet hidden clasps.
For patients who qualify, Dr. Patel often recommends supporting partial and full dentures on a series of dental implants. The prosthetic teeth roots are made from biocompatible titanium, and are surgically implanted into your jawbone, where the bone fuses to the titanium posts. The implants can support your denture without the need for a plastic base or hidden clasps, and also help keep your jawbone strong and your facial structures properly supported.
